Description
Tachi made by Hisayuki.   Beautiful copy of an Heian period Tachi.  During the Shinshinto period, there was a revival in swordmaking that was brought on by Suishinshi Masahide.  Because of this revival, many swordsmiths often made masterful copies of famous older blades to increase their education of how to make better swords.  They studied many of the good older examples, and used them to improve their skills.  Tachi such as this one made by Hisayuki were often special ordered, thus requiring a smith of great skill to create it.  Hisayuki was a smith that was also well known for his ability in making masterful polearms.  He is a Jo saku smith, and his teacher was the very famous Hosokawa Masayoshi.  His skill is quite good due to the fact that he was from such a good lineage, that he became very popular during the 1800’s for his swordmaking ability.
This Tachi has a very elegant shape.  The hamon is a well done suguha done in nie.  The hada is a very well made with excellent ji nie.  The itame, masame hada stands out well showing chikei.   Kinsuji appears in places as well.  The tang is ubu 1 hole, and has the appropriate shape as well.  In a very nice shirasaya and a silver habaki.  For those that want a very nice example at a great price.  This sword is priced special due to the fact that one of our clients is upgrading his collection and asked us to sell it at a discounted price!
